Each year, National Assisted Living Week provides a special opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the world of assisted living communities across our nation. The week is meant to spotlight the amazing efforts of caregivers working in these communities and the unique residents who reside in them. As we join in this national observance, we can reflect on the importance of compassionate care. We can also celebrate the vibrant lives of residents and appreciate the incredible staff who make it all possible. This week also highlights the importance of assisted living communities being a part of neighborhoods across the nation.
One of the things I hear most often is our residents love knowing they have a friend right outside their door. They feel secure knowing they can retreat to their apartments for solitude when they need alone time. They also appreciate being surrounded by staff and fellow residents when they want company.
As National Assisted Living Week has officially kicked off, we are fully embracing this year’s theme, “Inspiring Generations.” This theme captures the nature of what makes The Rushwood so special: the blend of wisdom from our older adults and the fresh vibrancy of the professionals who work here each day. To celebrate, residents and staff will enjoy a week full of unique events that highlight the various service areas that contribute to the spirit and success of our community.
This is my first year celebrating National Assisted Living Week, and I’m excited to highlight the quality of life residents can still enjoy at this stage in their lives. There’s often a misunderstanding of what assisted living is truly like. I look forward to celebrating the many positive aspects and sharing the joy and excitement with everyone.
It is our hope that by truly embracing the journey our aging adults take when they choose to make an assisted living community their home, we can inspire others to make the leap. By joining the wonderful culture, they can truly thrive alongside others in their generation.
